Welcome to Lumen Global 2018 in beautiful Jaipur, Rajasthan! Come and attend the STEMI-centric, Lumen Global “meeting” that has evolved into a “movement” for patient awareness and for “Saving Lives from AMI.” I gratefully acknowledge the tremendous support from the Eternal Heart Care Center, and its Founder, Dr. Samin Sharma, our partner and local host for Lumen Global 2018.  It is with great pride that I announce the Lumen Global 2017 Co-Directors – Dr. Ashok Seth, Dr. Sundeep Mishra, Dr. Shirish Hiremath and Dr. Jamshed Dalal. Together, we endeavor to make Lumen Global 2018 an exceptional STEMI global meeting. I am also indebted to the various Lumen Global Country Directors, and to the numerous cardiology and medical societies that have spurred the critical dispatch of Lumen Global. Political, press and media have sustained the sincere message of Lumen Global, and your feedback has been heartwarming. I have faithfully reproduced some of it on our website. The recent Lumen Global meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, New Delhi and Dubai have enormously broadened the breadth and scope of the previous ten Annual Lumen meetings in Miami and justified the evolution of Lumen into Lumen Global and its forays into Asia. Much of Asia remains in the depths of a CAD epidemic with formidable AMI statistics revealing millions of young adults succumbing to heart attacks. Survivors are left with incapacitating left ventricular function and a life of disability. Much of these terrible statistics and adverse epidemiology can be overcome by scientifically applying the gains of Primary PCI. An amazing 15-minute procedure that saves lives and prevents disability simply must not be denied to any patient. It is all the more critical that the existing barriers of providing STEMI care be overcome to allow all patients the benefit of Primary PCI. This is exactly the tenacious mission of Lumen Global – to narrow the existing gap in the scientific application of Primary PCI between North America and Europe, and Asia. For over a decade, Lumen Global has fine-tuned this message through a forceful narrative. Initiatives that were evaluated at previous Lumen Global conferences have contributed globally to improving the STEMI process and procedure.
